When the direction of the stainless steel pipe needs to be changed during the arrangement of the tooling, it needs to be connected by a stainless steel elbow with an angle of 45o, 90o, etc.
The commonly used method of stainless steel elbow forming production is push-bend forming process.
Push bending is a common bending method for bending stainless steel pipe fittings, and is mainly used for bending elbows. According to the characteristics of the process, it can be divided into cold push bending and mandrel hot push bending.
1.Cold push bending
The process method of using the bending device to push the elbow billet on an ordinary hydraulic press or a crank press is to press the stainless steel straight pipe billet into a mold with a bending cavity at room temperature to form a stainless steel elbow.
Cold push elbows are suitable for stainless steel elbows with a small bending radius. The minimum relative bending radius r/d≈1.3, the elbow section ellipticity is small (≤3%-5%), and the outer tube wall becomes thinner (≤ 9%) can be bent; the elbow push-bending device has a simple structure, does not require special equipment, and has high productivity. However, it is generally required that the relative thickness of the stainless steel pipe is t/d≥0.06. Otherwise, the pipe blank will often lose its stability due to poor rigidity, resulting in wrinkling or twisting of the inner side of the elbow.
2.Mandrel hot push bending
The mandrel-type hot-pushing bend is made on a special push-making machine. It passes through a horn mandrel under axial thrust, and pushes it while heating, so that the tube blank produces circumferential expansion and axial bending deformation, thereby reducing the smaller diameter tube The blank is pushed into a larger diameter elbow.
